First Paycheck
woot woot… I got my first proper salary. But it’s not alot actually, only working as a temp staff. Its erm, barely covering 6 months of my confirmed liabilities (excluding transport, food and such necessities). So yea… dun expect any treats
Anyway, its exchanged for with hard work… For the love of god, (even though I may feel sian), no temp staff will feel aggrieved with boring repetitive mundane jobs that are not too difficult to understand and execute. But down here, a temp staff is overloaded with stuffs I’m not sure he is supposed to be doing.
Bear with the rantings, or you can always skip this entry…
Linking mega spreadsheets together, often with complex formulas, lookups, and links, and ensuring the final figure matches with a pivot table constructed from the union of mega reports generated from the accounting system. If YOU are reading this, please know that I am only human. I look around at the other temp staffs and wonder how their output values compare, and with that, I do not think you can find any fault with me. As it stands, I don’t see any reason to push myself further because there is definitely no chance of advancement as a temp job, and I’m already producing beyond my reward.
T-files, rental checking, contra-balance, daily vor, BA… what do you want me to do?? No matter how capable you think of me, I am only human. I intend to stop work on the 18th July, period. I need a life, my life, outside work, which I’ve barely had this summer. I have my own schedules, my commitments, my ambitions… so, just, leave me alone.

Lol
=vlookup()?
=if()?
Haha..I had all of those too in my last temp job..no pivot tables tho..but it was fun doing all those formulas..it helps so much when looking through excel data!haha.

haha would it help to know that you aren’t alone when it comes to playing around with crappy excel formulas? hopefully the arrival of your pay-cheque helps cushion the sian-ness effect of the mundane job! =)

Oh yes, the salary helps definitely. Yea I guess many people along the way are also pulling their hair over some crappy excel formulas maybe.
Here is a glimpse at an expanded one
which I unfortunately could not fit into 1 cell. (gt stands for greater than, lt stands for lesser than… coz somehow the code messes up the symbol)
N5 = O5/K5 + IF(IF(OR(MONTH(J5) = MONTH($K$2), MONTH(J5) = MONTH($L$2)), 1, 0) + IF(OR(YEAR(J5) = YEAR($K$2), YEAR(J5) = YEAR($L$2)), 1, 0) = 2, $L$2 – J5 + 1, $L$2 – $K$2 + 1) – SUM(W5:AB5)/K5 – IF(AND(IF(AND($L$2 gt F2, NOT(ISBLANK(F2))), 1, 0) = 1, J5 lt $K$2), 1, 0) – IF(AND(IF(AND($L$2 gt G2, NOT(ISBLANK(G2))), 1, 0) = 1, J5 lt $K$2), 1, 0) – IF(AND(IF(AND($L$2 gt H2, NOT(ISBLANK(H2))), 1, 0) = 1, J5 lt $K$2), 1, 0) – IF(AND(IF(AND($L$2 gt I2, NOT(ISBLANK(I2))), 1, 0) = 1, J5 lt $K$2), 1, 0) – IF(AND(IF(AND($L$2 gt J2, NOT(ISBLANK(J2))), 1, 0) = 1, J5 lt $K$2), 1, 0) + IF(OR(MONTH(AL5) = MONTH($K$2), MONTH(AL5) = MONTH($L$2)), AL5 – $K$2 + 1, 0) – IF(AND($F$3 = 1, AM5 lt $K$2, AND(AL5 gt $F$2, J5 gt $F$2), NOT(ISBLANK(AM5))), 1, 0) – IF(AND($G$3 = 1, AM5 lt $K$2, AND(AL5 gt $G$2, J5 gt $G$2), NOT(ISBLANK(AM5))), 1, 0) – IF(AND($H$3 = 1, AM5 lt $K$2, AND(AL5 gt $H$2, J5 gt $H$2), NOT(ISBLANK(AM5))), 1, 0) – IF(AND($H$3 = 1, AM5 lt $K$2, AND(AL5 gt $I$2, J5 gt $I$2), NOT(ISBLANK(AM5))), 1, 0) – IF(AND($I$3 = 1, AM5 lt $K$2, AND(AL5 > $J$2, J5 gt $J$2), NOT(ISBLANK(AM5))), 1, 0)
Phew, unfortunately, that is not the fully expanded version yet. Boohoo…
W5 to AB5 kindly contains vlookup at a pivot table.
