Moving On
It is time to move on with life, no matter what happened… no matter what. Easier said than done, but I must admit I probably had it better than many peers. Those people who stumbled onto obstacles now and then, hold strong and keep going. I guess this is life.
I always regret the little stupid things I’d done. I’m always afraid to spurt out retarded stuffs in class, I guess that must be the reason why I keep quiet most of the time. And yes, I HATE presentations, because it represents one of the prime candidate for allowing me to let out utter nonsense without thinking. I/A presentation, ouch, I felt stupid back then. The only consolation I can offer myself is to be convinced that the case isn’t straightforward and that most of the class was probably not any clearer. And now I’m starting to worry about looking stupid for Corp Fin case presentation.
Maybe I have too much ego. Why the hell am I in biz? Hurhur… Anyhow, I finally finished all my midterms this semester. Didn’t seem all too bad. In fact, great to know that I happen to be in the top quartile for FM. Unfortunately, it isn’t the case for some people. Sometimes I wonder if I let down my group mates in terms of projects/cases/presentations/whatever. I usually really hate those stuffs unless it is like certain quantitative stuffs that really get me going (certainly not all quantitative stuffs as evident from massive finance distress). Maybe I have a large buffer eventually from written tests, but hey they don’t. Please put in more effort Mr slacker. Tackling 5 level3000 sectionals is definitely not easy though, especially when luck plays a little joke on you and decides to focus a heavy concentration of workload within a short timeframe. Much as I wish the worst is over, horror weeks appear to be in waiting still.
On the bright side, I see renewed hopes for finance. I had seriously contemplated if I should continue a major in finance recently when the going got tough. I got the niggling feeling that it was such a huge mistake to take on the 3 essential finance mods together. It invited responses like “siao ah”, “he’s mad lah!”, “omg”… I didn’t know what was the problem, in fact many people do the same thing. I already have to start worrying where to slot in level4000 modules, so 5 level3000 is actually not a bad case in any sense. Oh yea I was deviating from the topic. Back to finance, I must say that I have pretty good lecturers. Sometimes the workload may be heavy, sometimes the content is tougher. But hey, you want to extract something out of it when you finish the module don’t you? So yes, it reaffirms my philosophy of picking lecturers instead of “favourable” timetable which usually doesn’t turn out pleasant anyway because of the wonderful things we call project.
Speaking of lecturers, perhaps I should some effort to interact more on a personal level with them. Some of them are really nice people, and its a whole big world out there, the insights they offer you and I guess sometimes it helps to ease their boredom with a refreshing chance to talk to students about non-academic subjects. Mabel is really really nice to the class. I mean wow, if you had ever been in her class before, you know, its not easy finding another such considerate, observant, encouraging and cheerful lecturer. Btw I do address her by name, while I find it quite difficult to remove the salutations for most other lecturers. On hindsight, Ruth Tan isn’t as intimidating as she looks! Thanks for providing the class with snacks after some horrendous life-draining weeks. It always feel good when lecturers/tutors remember you. Oh yea I don’t think he even knows me but, this semester I saw Ishtiaq once. Coming out of office one fine day, he was walking plenty of steps in front of me, about 5. After opening the glass door and stepping out, he actually waited and held the door open for me. I just wanted to say that was a great gesture. The world would have been much nicer if more people did little things for others to make their day.
So what does all this mean to me. Reflect reflect… Perhaps I should try harder to bestow people with whatever little happiness I can offer.

I Am Back!
Ok… I was never away, but the sheer amount of work in the prior 2 weeks have left me without enough sleep, nevermind coming onto this blog. I have a little bit of break here, in the form of a recess week. But how much of a “break” it is remains to be seen. After all, I have better not slack too much and start working on the numerous cases and assignments before they snowball up into another killer combo. Not to mention there are some rather “welcoming” mid-term tests awaiting right after this so called break.
Sometimes I do wonder about the sanity of attempting this amount of core modules in a sem, considering that I usually am quite laid back. Somehow there must be people who are even worse off coz they probably don’t bother to do much. At least I try to aim for a respectable grade. Hahaha… For all those of you who have helped me much through this super hectic period, I love all of you! (in a non gay way for the guys)
I have been sleeping alot on friday since reaching home (to repay all the sleep debts), and playing alot on saturday. And I am looking forward to buffet, hahaha.

Mixed Bag of Updates
I’m starting to feel the heat! I mean the amount of onslaught I will receive from all the wonderful projects and case studies that will start to haunt me now. One major accompanying crappy moment comes in the form of group formation I guess. There were some disappointments there. Oh well, time to move on, less fun definitely, but hopefully constructive work gets done at the end of the day. Well, not all groups have been formed yet, but I’m already positive that not one went according to plans out of five. How’s that for luck eh?
Before I forget this, maybe I should talk about a lil incident this morning. The first bus I was on to school just stopped in front of a traffic junction. The engine died, and revived… and died… and revived. It went on for some time and we were like DAMN. Until the next bus actually came, and we were all sent off onto that bus. Consider that I need a bus transfer to another service with horrendous time variance, it could very well mean that I would miss the next service. Yes I’m talking about 151. I barely made it in time before lesson starts today. Had it happened tomorrow instead, in which case latecomers have to submit a 1-page bonus critique of a case, you will bet how pissed I’ll be. I hope the lecturers can be more understanding that it is not always our fault to come late.
One more thing, I am running out of drafts to buffer the inactivity that will bound to come in due to reason outlined in the first paragraph. So I guess there will be a dearth of entires soon over here, in which case you don’t really have to keep coming back. In any case I noticed the visitor rate dropping since school term starts, and I don’t think it is a coincidence, even though I dunno who is reading this blog (which just seems to be endless streams of blabbering text).
Finally, I’m in the mood again, for more nonsensical chinese crap.

期晓眸内君
相顾无非梦
一念转瞬空
无居柳絮飞
引化满霜鬓
p.s. sorry rachel didn’t know you can’t read chinese text on whatever you are using, but some things just can’t be replicated nicely otherwise

A Little Update
Oh well, with the impending start of a new school semester, I guess I’ll give a lil update of what had gone on for me during this rather uneventful holiday. First of all, for those who notices the respectable amount of shows (both movies and dramas) that spring up in this blog over here, yes, that is one of the primary activities I have been involved in for much of the holidays
Actually not much went on other than that besides routine boring activities like facebooking and chatting, with the occasional outings here and there. Something more significant would be a personal project I had finally accomplished, which is to put my jc clique into a drawn piece of lineart of superior warriors, which can be found over here. On the other hand, there are other stuffs which I had originally intended to do which I didn’t quite worked on much, including a personal novel which had been in my mind for years. I merely managed to write out parts of the first chapter this holiday before I got preoccupied with other stuffs…
I also spent quite some time towards the recent half of the holidays tinkering with timetable, and planning what modules to take in the upcoming semester, which is by no means an easy task to go through, given the number of synchronisations that one hope to achieves in different respective modules. I am so envious of ppl whose faculty gives them MPE… If only I had that, perhaps I will be pulling my hair less. Worrying about whether I have enough points to secure all the module slots I want is especially exasperating.

Happy Birthday to Another Friend
Celebrated another birthday yesterday, but it was quite in advance, seeing as the actual date is almost a week away. Oh well, it turns out that the organiser has another event at the same location yesterday so yea. It was a spike in money spent again in a relatively short time, but at least I think all these are gotten out of the way now. (Our joke of the day, don’t have too many good friends, spread their birthdays out, reject when quota is met! HAHAHA)
Anyway this time we went to JP Yaki-Yaki Bo, another jap cuisine outlet. Opted for some value set meal (there are choices of either chicken or beef) and I upgraded the rice to garlic fried rice. Overall there is like the rice, miso soup, salad, fried egg tofu, fruits, bean sprouts, and either chicken or beef atop a slice of toasted bread. Actually I can’t actually comment too much on the worth of it. Perhaps I was quite hungry and erm it didn’t feel filling at all. Hurhur… But of cos this time the extra food was reserved for the birthday guy, which includes his mini cake, and a chawan mushi. The cake has some Ben Ten picture on top, gosh I must say we must feel old now. Totally dunno the guy is a cartoon series hero, hah…

Oh yea, something to add. I think there was a Raymond Lam autograph session down there yesterday or something, dangit. If only I can see him… My idol leh. Well anyway after that Clar has another erm session with her family members to celebrate her dad’s birthday, at the same place, lol… Yep I was talking about that just now. Rest of us decided to watch Ice Age 3, and we have like 45 minutes to spare. So we hopped down somewhere to treat ourselves some ice cream, at BenTen Cafe. I got a Blueberry something and mine was the last to come and it was a respectable size, though quite ex at 5.80 prior to extra charges. So I had to gobble it down and voila, after that it was movie time, but sadly, 2nd row thanks to last minute-ness and gosh… I must say I enjoy the theatres at Cathay much better.
It was an enjoyable day, and I think this clique might sort of maintain a longer term relations that most others, which kind of slowly drifts away.

Happy Birthday to my Friend
Went out for a gathering with jc clique to sort of celebrate jh’s birthday. We decided upon Le Le Pot, which is situated somewhere in Tiong Bahru. Well, it is located at one small street and somewhat hidden from view of the major roads, so I guess it wasn’t very well known too. In fact, there isn’t much web presence either. Anyway, it was opened by this Chinese celebrity who used to appear in my local tv dramas, but I cannot recall his name. He seems rather friendly and even come out to serve customers a couple of times (but he has this erm, how should I put it, lack of expression).
Ok so we have this steamboat buffet in the small shopspace, which eventually felt relatively hot due to the many many many steamboats snuffing out the aircon, but it was still better than most of those you find in Bugis anyday, those are REALLY HOT. With 5 persons, we could only get 2 soup bases, so eventually it was tom yum and herbal chicken. Another thing is you order the food ala carte style and they will bring it to your seats, so no need to keep elbowing your way to the food trays and compete for the stuffs you want. I thought that was a great feature that most steamboats outlets lack.
To comment on the food, the variety is ok for the size of the shop. Very reasonable range of food within each category. And I might also add that they do have a small selection of fried food and prepared dishes that you do not need to cook. It received bonus points from me because these felt non-oily at all! And they taste reasonably good. You know, have been to many many buffet style places and they like to try many many ways to make customers eat less with varied ingenious methods such as having very oily food etc. But over here even the servers ask us to eat more! I think I should also commend on the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. I’m sure the layout also made it very easy to notice and look out for your customers.
1 more thing about the food. Be on your toes when getting the mussels clams blah blah. Not sure if they had been cleaned properly. Thankfully we only got those on the 3rd round of our orders. Coz after that we ate SAND. Now thats a turn-off. And it also made our appetite goes down I suppose, as nobody seemed to want to eat soon (and also the range of food, coz we more or less ate most/all of the things we wanted to). Oh it came with 1 desert each too, which was some much needed ice. We didn’t order drinks though some of them went next door for a slurpee when we are done. Overall, I still think its one of the best steamboats I have had at this kind of price range. Great, recommended to try.

Random Outings
Lol and behold, first up I had a get together with moi JC clique yesterday. Its the New York New York trip, something that we had already been contemplating on for quite some time but never got to go. Look, we had been going for semi-regular buffet trips, + I actually think most of us eat alot more than our size suggest, but alas, this is the one epic time we failed! But a glorious fail nevertheless. jh you did damn great for attempting the epic $32.90 yankee burger challenge. When jh fails, all else fail. Everyone of you who knows me, please stay far far far far away from the challenge in case you have not seen my msn nick. (4 people sharing is ok though hahahaha)

How do I describe the monstrosity that jh decided to whack? 8-inch beef patty burger with a MOUNTAINLOAD of fries. This is damn sick, so sick that many heads were turned when the plate came out of the kitchen. So sick that many passersby pointed here and there and gasped in awe. So sick that jh couldn’t finish it, nevermind the 1 hour limit. We sat there more than 2 hours, and still many french fries survived the horror of getting crunched between teeth. I still cannot imagine seriously. Dom had some salmon thingie which looks quite small to be honest, ken had eh wassat, fried fish fillet izzit. And I shared a meat platter with zong. Most of it was pretty normal, but I like the lamb steak, its nice. (I had a mini phobia when I saw Mac for the rest of the day…)
Next up, thanks minyao for attempting to organize a class outing, lol… though it turned out to be like a 3-tenth class outing. Its my first time eating at Breeks. I love peppermint ice cream
hahahaha. I had some fish and prawn fritters in dunno what sauce (whoops sorry my memory is crap). It was quite an appetising meal, albeit not too filling. Most of the main courses are of relatively small portions. Aye next time go somewhere nearer lah… all live west side…
