First Paycheck

Posted in Working Life at 8:52 pm by ryushin

woot woot… I got my first proper salary. But it’s not alot actually, only working as a temp staff. Its erm, barely covering 6 months of my confirmed liabilities (excluding transport, food and such necessities). So yea… dun expect any treats 😛 Anyway, its exchanged for with hard work… For the love of god, (even though I may feel sian), no temp staff will feel aggrieved with boring repetitive mundane jobs that are not too difficult to understand and execute. But down here, a temp staff is overloaded with stuffs I’m not sure he is supposed to be doing.

Bear with the rantings, or you can always skip this entry…

Linking mega spreadsheets together, often with complex formulas, lookups, and links, and ensuring the final figure matches with a pivot table constructed from the union of mega reports generated from the accounting system. If YOU are reading this, please know that I am only human. I look around at the other temp staffs and wonder how their output values compare, and with that, I do not think you can find any fault with me. As it stands, I don’t see any reason to push myself further because there is definitely no chance of advancement as a temp job, and I’m already producing beyond my reward.

T-files, rental checking, contra-balance, daily vor, BA… what do you want me to do?? No matter how capable you think of me, I am only human. I intend to stop work on the 18th July, period. I need a life, my life, outside work, which I’ve barely had this summer. I have my own schedules, my commitments, my ambitions… so, just, leave me alone.

Misfortunes Don’t Come Alone

Posted in Working Life at 10:17 pm by ryushin

This is a friggin’ retarded day… You see, one should never be late when hitching a free ride from somebody, but of course I had to get to that place, not the person coming to my block… And it happened that I missed the bus (700). So I took an alternate bus (184) to somewhere I still have to walk… And it turned out, I’m still on time, a second 700 pulled up at the stop before my free ride came -.- But still, one must never be late when hitching a free ride…

On Karene’s car, I looked down and sort of saw a loose thread on my shirt, or so I thought. What happened? I tugged at it, more thread came out, but still attached, so I was like… just wait till I get to the office to scavenge for a pair of scissors. When she dropped me off, and I probably walked like 30 steps, I saw my shirt’s bottommost button drop to the ground… (I was still tugging at the thread. Then I was like WTH… that was the flimsy piece of thing that secured the button!!! So what can I do to that thingie? God knows, I held on to the loose thread, and to the button, something can be done I’m sure, but you wouldn’t expect any sort of sewing tools in an accounting office do you? I darted my eyes around, and… hunted (like a predator) for SOMETHING… I found the “something”. Its the STAPLE! I had the loose thread, I had a staple. YES! Lets make a mini sewing needle. And man, I tell you, it is by no means easy, that friggin’ thing is so tiny! Maximum improvisation, and I sewed that stupid piece of button back (though its not exactly perfect…) Oh yea, see the picture below? The button on the left is sewn back by me, not aligned and wrong degree… but WHO CARES! I got the friggin’ button back on, the rest of the work will be done by my mum 😀

Hmm, that incident aside, work today was supremely boring. And it is indeed a case of 大材小用. Guess what they got me to do? Fold letters… put into envelopes… seal envelopes… paste stamps… That was oh… such a fun assembly-line like work… Ever wondered if it is possible to do that for the WHOLE DAY. Yes I mean it, the whole friggin’ day, lunch break aside. Take a look at those 2 pictures below… Thats the amount of letters I made in the day… Not funny… Before you think otherwise, those 2 stacks are NOT the same letters…

Ok… let’s not worry about the letters for now. I pity the someone who had to send it out… haha… I’m having letter-phobia. But the worst thing is… I slept on the bus on the way home, and for the first time (I think), I did not magically wake up at the correct stop… Took 961 mind you, when I realised what was going on, the bus was speeding along mandai road… Got down at Kranji MRT and decided to take train home for a speedier journey… Sucks… Nothing goes right today eh? For added kicks… I ate $6 worth of food today at the hawker centre for lunch… Thats 2 servings. Blah… wasting all my money on food…

Random Thoughts

Posted in E-Gaming, General, Soccer / Sports, Working Life at 11:01 pm by ryushin

Well well… Looks like I’m blogging less now that I’m working isn’t it? It probably accounts for 70% of the reason, but not the entirety. (Lets talk about the rest later) Regarding work, it is amazing how the short 3 weeks so far, it was good, much much much more enjoyable than the kind of work I spent doing in the 1.75 years in you know where. Colleagues are nice, and there will be random talks here there on various random topics. The manager is nice too, and sometimes gimme lil’ bit of munchies here & there. The supervisor is nice too, and the person I’m helping is nice too! Ok, there are more females in the dept but that was not the point, hah! Even the guys in there are generally nice, approachable and they don’t treat you like a puny temp staff to be thrown all the shit. Its great to know people remember your names, and I will remember names (if I get to know them in the first place) I’ve been thru many things, and even as a puny temp staff now, calling people by their names still receive great reception. Hey… here is someone who will remember you.

On other news, why am I so busy now? Hahahaha…. Well, I’m re-addicted to DotA. Spent quite a bit of time honing back whatever skills I had in the game, and establishing new mindsets and strategies. Had some fun with my bro 🙂 I’m definitely not a professional gamer. But I think amongst the casual gamers, I tend to always fall above the average. Yea man… I have a knack of learning games. (Sometimes it is also because I have a big ego… which can be a weakness really… I play to win, ’nuff said)

Finally, about Euros 08, the hot topic now eh… For a soccer fan I had been really quiet about this. None of my supported club’s players are left in the tournament… Many of my predictions went kuku… In fact this do not only apply to me. I mean… so many favorites are now out of the tournament… Portugal… Croatia… Netherlands… To be fair, Russia looked like a dark horse ready to pounce, unbelievable from them. That Arshavin looked like a special little player. Lets continue to watch… Will Germany or Spain now have their way on the glorious path, or will more giant slaying await us?

Surprise Surprise

Posted in Working Life at 9:51 pm by ryushin

Hmm, so… the company actually throw farewell lunch (or rather my dept “boss”) when staff leave, the temps that is. So yesterday, the whole big dept went to eat “zhi char” at this coffee shop. I didn’t count how many dishes they ordered lah, but by the end of the whole thing, it was ALOT… When you think its the last, miraculously another dish get served later… And so it goes there were 14 people present (including me, if you count me as one person) It like something like 2 tables pseudo-joined together. The “other” table has like 3 guys and 4 ladies. My table has like 6 ladies and 1 glutton… Like ermz… sometime in between, most people like stopped eating, including the 3 big guys on the other table… So who finished the food? No prizes for guessing… Ching Loong said I’m a high class “rubbish bin”… hahaha.

I guess most of them gawked at me or something… My table rocks lah, oh… did I mention my table the 6 ladies is 3 temp (so is YOUNG adults hahahaha) & 3 erm, (got myself into a corner) senior staff (ah hah!). After the lunch, they told me previously when there were always leftovers… they played dunno what handphone game and the loser have to eat a serving, until the food are finished… Like wth, why nobody said that earlier… But ok lah, for those ppl who wanna sabo me, TOO BAD 😛

Hmm, today wrote quite a number of cheques, which is of course neither paid by me, nor payable to me. Hurhur… Working with numbers as small as a few cents everyday, to numbers as big as 10k. Next week I will have a closer companion to work with, woohoo!

Another Long Shag Day

Posted in General, Working Life at 10:47 pm by ryushin

Ok, so… my supposed assistant/co-worker still did not magically appear. So I’m still chugging away at the mountain piles of files to clear. Everyday… the backlog is still there. And every now and then, I think new batches will come in. Why do cab hirers have such a high turnover rate? Or maybe its just me thinking that. Ok bah, did like 128 hirers accounts and ermz, around 23-ish relief accounts bah, not including today’s tally, which I forgot.

Ok thats besides the point. Hohum, manage to secure a temp job for Pei Huang over at my side, more companionship for work. Yeeehaaaa. Hopefully can alleviate some boredom lah. Tatata…

Then well, tonight went to Thai Express @ Citylink Mall to meet up with my comm members for dinner. Actually to share / finalize some details & have an expensive dinner -.- Grats… I haven got my paycheck. I had some curry softcrab rice thingie, and Vincent got laksa (dunno which type). Emma had some beef noodle (izzit noodles?!) thingie and Cheryl had green curry blah blah. Sorry I wasn’t attentive… hahaha… I was already damn tired during the dinner lah. Then there is a plate of chicken wings that come FoC with use of DBS (izzit DBS?! lolz…) card. Then, finally, the dessert, there is this tapioca thingie which is not bad bah, saw that its voted best on the menu, so we just tried it 🙂 After that, its a long long walk to the esplanade to get my bus, which came within 15 secs, how wonderful!

Random Stuffs

Posted in General, Soccer / Sports, Working Life at 10:20 pm by ryushin

Hurhur… Where do I start? Right… its BORING work again, hahaha… been doing the same old stuffs again. my gonna-to-be attached helper did not come yet, dunno wad involved in wad project. The longer the delay… the less leftovers there might be left… soon… Crap… Ok I shall slow down.

Actually nothing much happened today, except for… This idiotic faggot of an old auntie… Idiot idiot idiot… just wanna take free bus ride say lah… give excuse… what shouting aloud when questioned why she boarded the bus via the exit door (such that cnt tap the ezlink), scolding in the bus… “I waited for the bus so long you know, 45 minutes. You all don’t want to move in, how I come up. You tell me, how I tap the card.” FARKING IDIOTIC FAGGOT. Yea man… you expect a homogeneous translation of all the passengers in the bus towards the back within 5 seconds of people alighting? And she got a very qian bian look… Jump up the bus via the back door and immediately face behind and ignore the “hello” from the bus conductor. Poor Susan got yelled at for nth for conveying the conductor’s message. Farking hell, if my mood was any worse that faggot will face my wrath… Such idiots should be blasted to oblivion in the depths of hell. Spoil my day…

But of course the great jh came and save my day. By making my pc good to go again 🙂 On other news, results for Euros 2008 are still going on course with my predictions… not that I made any profit though… boohoo. Portugal looked strong, sprinted out from the get go… can they maintain? hurhur…

Almost a Week

Posted in Working Life at 9:40 pm by ryushin

Right… started working for almost a week alr. My speed is ever increasing everyday. Maybe I should slow down tomorrow… They seriously have too much backlog. To ensure that the backlog is still there at the end of god knows how long, I should start to work slower, or get them to teach me new things. Bcos I think I’m underpaid! So it should be contra-ed against training fees, hahaha…

I dunno whether I should say this. Having taken financial accounting, yea, the ideas and concepts does help in understanding the work I’m doing now, especially specialised terminology. On the other hand, much of it is crap anyway bcos of differing company policies, different software, different nature of business, different models of transactions… you get the idea…

Another thing I’ve noticed. I still type fast 😀 numbers and letters included. Oh, there are some cute and pretty ladies in the office, hehe. But I’m sitting damn far away, and facing the wrong side 😦 There is always lunch time though, sometimes it helps.
